Flexible greywater plumbing

Flexible plumbing options is the key to affordable greywater installation. Every house and plumbing situation is different. While 100mm greywater plumbing is common for new house construction, existing houses are far easier (and therefore less expensive) to retrofit using 50mm and 65mm plumbing.

The EcoBowser 450 is partially assembled (pumping system supplied assembled) while the inlets and overflow are not predrilled unless specifically ordered.

In this example space between the Overflow Relief Gully (ORG) and an adjacent hot water service was limited.

A hole was cut into the concrete path, and the EcoBowser 450 partially buried. Existing plumbing (40mm shower and 40mm laundry waste pipes) were each converted to 50mm and have their own inlet entry to the EcoBowser. In most Australian states it is illegal to combine two plumbing fixtures into a single 50mm pipe.

This second image of the same installtion shows the larger 65mm overflow outlet, which take the overflow directly to the sewer. An additional bottom valve is fitted allowing the system to self drain when tuned off during strong winter / rain conditions.

In this example a 65mm laundry inlet (required instead of 50mm pipe due to the long pipe run), and a 50mm shower inlet were fitted.

The overflow is 65mm (minimum size required for two plumbing fixtures), and was connected back into the sewer line via a 65mm disconnect trap.

The EcooBowse is dug into the ground, and will be covered by outdoor deck (EcoBowser accessible via a removable deck hatch). The filter is mounted on a convenient location on a nearby wall.

In this example the EcoBowser is installed in a crawl space beneath the main floor.

Due to the self cleaning design of the EcoBowser, regular access to the pumping unit is not required. The filter is mounted in an easily accessible location outside.

This system was installed during a bathroom renovation. The greywater runs directly from the shower into the diversion valve and either into the container, or via a return path to the sewer line.

As there was insufficient room to provide a disconnect trap between the container and the 100mm waste pipe, a trap has been installed inside the container for the overflow outlet.

In almost every installation plumbing costs are reduced by allowing customised installation onsite.
